The NOAA HPC Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts (QPF) provide information about the expected amount of precipitation over the next five days in various areas. Also available are predictions of precipitation for specific days in the upcoming five day period (e.g., expected rainfall for day 1, today, or day 2, tomorrow). The forecasted precipitation amounts are displayed in two forms on this map: Numeric labels indicate the greatest amount of precipitation expected in that region for the specified time period; the graphical (color-coded) display allows users in any location to determine how much precipitation they should expect in their area. These observations can be helpful to consider when making irrigation decisions, or other decisions that depend on amount of expected precipitation.
