Climate and Weather Products
Below is a list of climate and weather products available for use by producers and likely to be helpful in many production decisions. Visit individual product pages to see additional information about each.
Observed Percentage of Soil Water Content
This product shows the observed percentage of available water in the top 1 meter (about 39 inches) of the soil column in various locations. This information is useful for crop production decisions, especially in rain-fed crop fields. For irrigated fields the information can be used in decisions prior to first irrigation.
Soil Water Accumulation
This product shows the calculated soil water content using observed meteorological and irrigation conditions at given locations. This information is useful for irrigation decisions, or any other decisions that depend on the soil water content of a relatively specific location.
Five-day Precipitation Forecasts
This weather product shows the predicted amount of precipitation that is likely to be received in a given area over the next five days after the forecast was issued. This information is useful for decisions pertaining to irrigation, application of herbicides and pesticides, and other precipitation-dependent or sensitive operations.
Five-day Temperature Forecasts
This product shows the forecasted anomalies of daily maximum temperature averaged for a five-day period based on numerical models and human forecasts. This information is useful for estimating atmospheric demand for surface evaporation and transpiration.
Daily Wind Predictions
This product shows the forecasted direction and speed of the wind for a given time frame. This information is especially useful for making spraying and irrigating decisions.
Meteogram
The meteogram is a group of graphical displays of predicted precipitation, temperature, wind, humidity, and heat index, for an individual location for each hour of the immediately following 48 hours. This information is useful for a variety of decisions in farm operations.
